Use route evidence before choosing protection
“Armored” does not automatically mean that GYTC8S is the correct cable. Identify whether the route is aerial self-supporting, where it passes, how it is installed, and what risks the project specification actually addresses. For unusual spans or local wind and ice conditions, the project engineer should confirm the calculated requirement rather than assume a standard construction.

- Route type, pole spacing or maximum span, and known wind or ice design condition
- Fiber count, fiber type, and any attenuation or test-document requirement
